Shocked by the grim sight he experiences every day as he tries to do what he can to help the Coronavirus victims, Maxime Mbanda has not hidden his emotions. He couldn’t help but let the above-mentioned words slip out. What exactly did he see to raise this alarm?

Contrary to the role he plays in his rugby team, third line on the field, Maxime finds himself on the front line against the coronavirus. But rather than limiting his fight against the scourge to rescuing those who are already sick, he thought of you and I who, at least on the surface, have not yet come under the thumb of the pandemic which continues to multiply its victims. According to RMC Sport, Maxime would have said the following: « What I see are people of all ages, on respirators, on oxygen, doctors and nurses working 20 or 22 hour shifts, not sleeping one minute of the day and just trying to get a little rest the next day, » and added, « I wish I could say that the situation here is on the edge. »

Indeed, according to RMC Sport, Altice France’s French TV channel package dedicated to sports, what Maxime saw was « an absolute emergency situation, where ‘95% of hospital facilities are dedicated to coronavirus patients' ». This explains why he says, as already mentioned above: « If people saw what I see in hospitals, there would no longer be a queue in front of the supermarkets. They would think twice, three or four times before leaving their homes, even to go for a run. »

In any case, Maxime did his part by warning us, determined as he is to save lives in his way. It’s up to each of us to behave accordingly if we value the fragile miracle of life, or rather the breath that allows us to enjoy it.
