The Spokesman for the Government replied to the statement of the former Governor of the former province of Katanga, Moise Katumbi, who recently announced his return to the country for the funeral of Etienne Tshisekedi.

It is to be noted that, according to a Belgian newspaper, the Congolese businessman said on Thursday during the mass organized in memory of Etienne Tshisekedi in Brussels, that he will return to the Democratic Republic of Congo « with the remains » of the President of The Union for Democracy and Social Progress (UDSP) when it is repatriated to its lands.
Moise Katumbi Chapwe, formerly close to Joseph Kabila, but currently in the opposition, was prosecuted for violating the state security and for spoliating property. He was sentenced to three years in prison following a controversial trial. Then he flew to Europe via South Africa for health reasons and has since been considered a political exile.
