The National Episcopal Conference of Congo (CENCO) describes the socio-political and security situation prevailing at present throughout the national territory of worrying and increasingly taking on very disturbing aspects, at the risk of plunging the country into an uncontrollable disorder.

« We note with great concern the differences within the Congolese political class as well as the upsurge in tensions in the country, which, if ignored, could lead the nation to implosion and chaos. This crisis sprang from the impasse of the electoral process, whose regularity and continuity were interrupted, « deplores the Cenco, which, despite this, remains optimistic and calls on the Congolese not to lose courage.

This is what the Cenco has just declared during a press conference held at its headquarters. The National Episcopal Conference of the Congo (Cenco) recalls, nevertheless, that at the beginning of the crisis, it had privileged the way of the dialogue. A vow, which was concretized by the first agreement of 18 October 2016, but which suffered from exclusivity.

Thus it will be encouraged by the Head of State, Joseph Kabila, to carry out a mission of good offices with both the signatories and non-signatories of the agreement in order to reach a consensus to achieve the organization of the pacified democratic elections.

Thus, under the mediation of the Cenco, the political negotiations culminated in the signing of a comprehensive and inclusive political agreement at the Interdiocesan Center, which is a consensual and inclusive political compromise and is the only one Realistic roadmap to enable the DRC to emerge from the socio-political crisis.
